The Cumulus Atlanta Internship Program is looking for qualified interns to join our team. Our program works with key departments in our office and seeks an intern who can participate in the various aspects of how our campaigns are brought to life in the radio culture. Interns should be prepared to work in a fast-paced team environment and will finish the internship having gained broad experience in various aspects of radio.
We are looking for innovative, proactive, smart, and performance driven individuals that hard working, self-motivated, optimistic and determined to do great work. Candidates must be and undergraduate student majoring in Business, Marketing, Communication, Advertising, or Broadcasting. This person should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with extensive knowledge of Web and social media. PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Photoshop, and Illustrator experience is a bonus, and will be considered when choosing the best applicant for this internship position.
Throughout this internship students will rotate through different departments and learn how each department collaborates to provide advertisers with national reach and local impact in the media industry.
Interns will learn about music genres, on air talent, demographics and major events that are associated with each station. In the Marketing and Media department there will be a focus on the relationship between the Promotions and Digital teams. Interns will hear about basic design principles, the importance of knowing the audiences for each station and how trends both affect and change the marketing for radio.
In the Sales department student will be able to identify a good prospect for radio advertising, how to construct a schedule and a promotion that will deliver results for a client as well as how to present the idea, close a deal and take credit for the outcome.
From a production and programming perspective, interns will learn the process of producing commercials and how those commercials are programmed into the stations. Students will have the opportunity to sit in with on-air talent and observe how they prepare for and run their shows.
After rotating through each department and understanding how they truly all work hand in hand, students will be prepared with fundamental skills and knowledge for the media industry.
